frame features

  1. lifetime warranty
at transition bikes we take pride in the quality of our products and are stoked to offer a lifetime warranty for the original owner and our stellar crash replacement program. We got your back so you don't have to worry about your bike.
  2. Frame material
the spire carbon uses premium japanese toray fibre using a unique latex coated eps moulding process to create tighter edge radius control using less material. The spire alloy features a frame made from tough and dependable heat treated 6061 aluminium to strike the right balance of strength, durability and ride quality.
  3. Pivot technology
collet main pivot technology improves rear end stiffness and keeps your pivot hardware tight. Additional bearing shields prevent main pivot bearing contamination when washing your bike or riding in wet conditions.
  4. Frame protection
we keep your bike rides quiet and your frame safe from damage with fully integrated, flush-mounted rubber frame protection at all critical areas. In addition to downtube and seatstay protection, the ribbed chainstay protector features expanded coverage of the rear dropout pivot area.
  5. Geo adjust chip
change the attitude of the bike with a simple flip of a chip. Our high and low settings give you two very usable geo settings to suite your riding style. Our high setting is comparable to most other companies low setting so there is a high shred warning in effect.
  6. Size specific chainstays
the spire has two size specific chainstay lengths to provide balanced handling and rider weight distribution across the range of sizes.
  7. Enduro max bearings
we exclusively use enduro max suspension pivot specific bearings in standard sizes that are readily available worldwide. Dual bearings are used at the dropout pivots for frame stiffness and additional c-clips lock the rocker bearings in place under torsional loads.
  8. Gear accessory mount
our underside top-tube accessory mount allows you to carry a spare tube or other goodies safely on your frame in case you are looking to ditch the backpack.
  9. Dual crown fork compatible
both the carbon and alloy frame options are fully dual crown compatible for those wanting to dip their toes into the dh world.
  10. Tyre clearance
ample clearance for mud and tyres up to 2.6" width.
  11. Press-in headset
our zs56/zs56 press in headset gives you the freedom to use reach adjust and angle adjust headset for maximum adjustability. Adjustable headsets are not supplied with spire framesets or complete bikes.
  12. Water bottle compatibility
we keep your water bottle clean inside the front triangle so you can keep hydrated without worrying about mud making it to your mouth.

Speed balanced geometry

sbg ensures the bike maintains low speed agility, front wheel traction, and proper rider weight balance while actually increasing confidence in steep terrain and at high speeds. With sbg, a slacker head tube angle is combined with a all new reduced offset fork standard, preventing the front wheel from being too far in front of the rider. This improves front to rear weight distribution on the bike, which is often out of balance on long and slack bikes. One of sbg's greatest benefits is that it creates a confident steering feel that adapts to wheel speed. More stability when going fast, more agility on technical slow speed manoeuvring as well as improved traction, control and confidence for any skill level of rider.

giddy up suspension design

we want to make it as easy as possible to experience great rear suspension performance. The giddyup suspension system is designed to behave intuitively across a broad range of setup. Because, we get it, sometimes you just want to grab your bike and giddyup, without checking your setup. When you do, it will always feel good.

With nearly 23% progression and the most current evolution of our giddyup suspension kinematic, the spire has an excellent balance of support and small bump sensitivity. Anti-squat is tuned to enhance pedaling performance and provides a platform to push against when pumping, without sacrificing a bottomless feel when needed.

The giddyup suspension layout is tuned to work correctly with both air and coil rear shocks. Riders are able to add or remove volume spacers in the rear air shock to suit their individual riding style and there is plenty of bottom out control with air or coil shocks when things get rowdy. The spire has 170mm of rear wheel travel when used with the supplied 205mm x 65mm stroke shock. It is also possible to install a shorter, 205mm x 60mm stroke shock to decrease the rear wheel travel to 160mm if you are after a shorter travel experience.

A suggested sag range of 27 - 33% allows the rider to tune the feel of the bike; from a firm and snappy jump and slash mode, to a more supple and active full on party mode. Wherever you end up, you can focus on the trail without remotes, levers or knobs. Just grab your bike and giddyup.

Sizing Information

Transition Trail bike sizing

Approx rider height range:

5'2"-5'6" Small

5'6"-5'10" Medium

5'10"-6'2" Large

6'2"-6'6" Extra Large

Some sizing notes from Transition:

The days of 120mm stems and 680mm handlebars with bar ends are nearly gone and we feel that an approach to sizing born in that era should go away as well. With progressive trail design and all of the recent changes in bike technology, selecting your frame size is not as cut and dry as it once was. With the huge variety of trail styles, riding styles and bike setup preferences, we would urge you to look beyond your height and inseam to find the right bike size. We want you to have as much fun as possible riding your bike. And in the end we want you to remember, there is no right or wrong size for you (within reason of course).

Take a look at the style of trails you will be riding, and how you would approach them... are they fast and open or tight and technical? Steep or mellow? Do you like to catch air or keep the wheels on the ground? Do you pick the gnarly straight line, or move your bike around on the trail? Did you grow up racing BMX bikes, start off with mountain biking, or get into it from road biking? Want your bike to feel super stable or super agile? All of these factors come into play, and each one is just as important as the others. For example, you can choose to ride a size Large frame and use a 35mm stem and achieve a nearly identical reach as a Medium size frame with a 60mm stem. Each setup can be as capable as the other, while offering a very different feeling ride. Even beyond stem length, depending on how you have answered those questions, you might want to go up or down in size to get the right fit and feel for you and your trails.

In order to reflect those choices, we have updated our sizing chart with a lot more overlap across the size range. We have tried to illustrate the bike sizes we felt would apply to each rider size; but be sure to look at the geometry and make sure the size you are choosing makes sense for your preferences. Everyone is different, plain and simple. The lines have become blurred and there is no strict rule of thumb anymore. When choosing your perfect size, ask yourself these questions, call or email us if you need a second opinion and most importantly... make sure you pick the setup that you feel will be the most fun!
