Job Description:
Senior Cycle technician Established in 2010 and based in Telford, we are a customer focused independent cycle shop with a professional workshop.
We have an opportunity for a senior cycle technician to join our small yet increasingly busy team. We need more than a cycle technician; you will be part of the business and help shape our future.
Requirements
- Number one on our list is excellent communication skills, you play a key role in delivering a high level of customer service. Via every channel, you need to build relationships, listen, and advise ensuring that customers are kept up to date and expectations realised.
- The successful candidate will have 5+ years’ experience working in a busy workshop servicing, repairing, and preparing new bikes for delivery
- Team player, sounds obvious, and its essential. Ability to spot when someone needs assistance, play to your strengths, ask for support with your weaknesses and keep things moving efficiently. You will also be keen to leave things how you find them, be that your job notes or workstation.
- Ideally trained to Cytech level 3 or equivalent or able to demonstrate the technical skills and knowledge including suspension servicing, wheel building, e bike diagnosis and repair. Experience of working with Bosch and Shimano systems will be an advantage.
- You need to bring a professional approach to day to day running, with an eye for detail and a desire to develop skills and process as required.
- Your experience will be reflected with a drive to resolve problems and a confidence to know when to stop, speak to your customer to explain when repair may not be viable. You won’t know every answer, but you will have a good idea of how to find out.
- Being a keen cyclist with real world experience that you can call on to better advise customers. That passion for cycling will be the basis of what drives you to learn more about the product
- You will be computer literate and flexible to learn new systems, our workshop is managed with a cloud-based schedule and more and more learning resources are accessed online that you will be expected to take ownership of.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Delivering a high level of customer service
- We are a small team so you won’t be hidden in a workshop, when its busy you will be expected to assist in all day to day running of the shop
- Servicing and repairing a wide variety of bikes
- Building, performing pre delivery inspections, packing bikes for shipping
- Receiving bikes as they arrive for service or repair and advising customers accordingly
- Taking calls and greeting customers in store
- Taking the lead on developing efficient working practices in the workshop
- Keen to share knowledge with other members of the team, using your experience you are expected to coach and advise to help strengthen our team.
Hours and holidays
37 hours a week, with some weekend working. For the right candidate, a reduced week can be arranged. We trade 7 days and bank holidays
Ongoing brand delivered training, uniform and a staff discount scheme is provided.
Retail Assistant
Job Location: Telford

Delivering a high level of customer service, you will be assisting other members of the team serving our customers in the store and over the phone, carrying out technical handovers, managing deliveries, maintaining high standards of retail presentation both in store and on-line and carrying out sales administration including stock control.
An interest and passion for cycling is essential, a knowledge of bike mechanics would be great although not essential.
You must be a flexible and committed with a can-do attitude and being solution focused and optimistic is an absolute must.
A high level of customer care is required; you must be very approachable and be able to demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to commute with customers who have varying levels of cycling experience.
The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and demonstrate an ability to use their initiative whilst working independently as well as working as part of a close-knit team. Organized to juggle multiple requests, prioritizing to deliver.

Apprentice Cycle Technician

Job Description:
Primarily the role will focus on service and repair of cycles and communicating to customers throughout that process. However, with a small shop the role will be broad, expect to be involved with serving customers, answering the phone, managing stock, general housekeeping and all elements of day-to-day life in a cycle shop.
Wage:
During training: From £5.28 er hour. Based on an average of 37 hours a week this equals £10159 per year.
There will be opportunity to review during and on completion of the apprenticeship to reflect progress and performance
Working Week:
Trading is seven days a week so expect some weekend working
Monday to Friday is 10-6, Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4
Lunch is 30 minutes
Employment Start Date:
This can easily be extended. Flexible but late August target

Qualifications required:
A minimum Level 1 GCSE in FS Maths and English or to have completed FS IA at Entry 3. Learners will be required to work towards Level 2 FS in Maths and English and must achieve at least a Level 1 to complete the Standard
Prospects:
After successfully completing the Cycle Mechanic Apprenticeship, laying a foundation in the industry the progression opportunity is either towards customer service and sales or to progress in the workshop into more senior roles and ultimately workshop manager or retail manager further down the line.
Things to Consider:
This is a fast-paced environment, you could be on your feet all day, the job can be very demanding and being organized will make the difference.
Process:
Please note post interview, all candidates must meet Apprenticeship entry requirements, that is, meet with the Performance Coach in an interview, complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and complete a skill scan.
