Bosch’s Generation 5 motor officially released earlier this week, get ready for a wave of updated ebikes launching throughout October. There is a good reason that so many brands choose Bosch to take care of electrical duties.

Lots of initial reports picking up on the power out put staying the same? Almost like 85nm could be a sweet spot? Especially with lower weight.

Also, remember when the gen 4 launched with 75nm, then later an update unlocked an extra 10nm? We predict that this motor might be packing more features for future updates, watch this space.

Now in its forth generation, the Orbea Wild launches today with the latest evolution using this new Bosch Gen 5 motor, the bigger yet lighter capacity batteries with refined geometries and a mullet option making it more capacle than ever, or if you are not ready to go super enduro, Orbea introduce the Wild ST.

New bikes landing in store soon, contact us for details and pricing. In the mean time, here’s Orbea’s press release and some images to wet your whistle or check out Orbea for more.

The Yes Machine: Welcome To A World Beyond Power
● Wild is a lightweight, full power eBike, developed in the highest levels of
competition, and ready to take on whatever challenge you have in mind.
● Wild has won the most prestigious prizes in the bike industry, and is the only bike
to win two back to back bike of the year tests in a major outlet.

Now a new version arrives, packed with improvements and ready for any challenge.
Wild is a bike built without compromises. Lightweight and fully optimized, it leaves our
factory ready for action with the latest Bosch motor and race-ready build kits. No matter what the challenge, Wild is prepared to perform.
What ‘s New?
Although visually Wild has not changed much, this is a totally new frame. Not one single
piece is unchanged. The new Wild offers some new features and technologies:
➔ Slacker geometry for more aggressive descending.
➔ Totally new, race-bred, kinematics offering 170mm front and rear travel.
➔ New Bosch Performance CX Drive Unit which is lighter and quieter.
➔ New Bosch 600Wh battery option for an even lighter Wild.
➔ Mullet option.
➔ New Wild ST Option. A more trail-focussed Wild.
ADVANCED FRAME DESIGN | Light Weight, Heavy Performance
Wild tames the wildest trails but always feels alive, energetic, and involving rather than the detached, numb ride of many e-bikes. Clever frame design, the best materials and
technologies such as SBS have allowed us to reduce weight at the same time as optimizing stiffness. This balance of light weight and stiffness is the base for Wild’s incredible handling.
MORE CAPABLE THAN EVER | 170mm Front and Rear
Wild offers 170mm of travel front and back, with custom-tuned Fox Float X or Float X2
shocks and the Fox 38 fork. More travel and updated kinematics mean this is the most capable Wild ever, ready for the wildest tracks. The suspension is more progressive than
before with a slightly higher leverage ratio to improve small bump sensitivity.
Orbea have been developing the new Wild in the EDR as well as in the DH World Cup,
where Martin Maes has been competing under the OOlab project. This is Orbea’s research division, responsible for development and learning and which forms a link between Orbea’s in-house laboratories and real world riding. Orbea tells us that on the DH tracks, the speeds and forces are greater, and what they have learned here has helped improve Wild’s already great suspension performance.
UPDATED GEOMETRY | 63.5º Head Angle, and Mullet Options
Another development that comes from feedback from the racers is the updated geometry. The head-angle has been relaxed 0.5º, the only tweak that was necessary to give even more confidence at high speed. Whether you want maximum speed with 29 ” or to focus on fun with 27″, Wild has you covered. Two shock linkages allow you to change the rear wheel size without affecting the geometry. The option of a 27” rear wheel works brilliantly with Orbea’s Steep’n’Deep design, which has one of the longest seat-post insertion depths on the market. The combination of being able to drop the saddle so low, with the smaller rear wheel, gives lots of space to move over the bike.

DRIVE AND BATTERY | New Bosch Cx Performance And 600Wh Battery Options.
BOSCH’s 85 Nm motor needs no introduction, with endless power and controlled responses. The updated motor gives more precise control, is quieter and lighter, and offers less pedal resistance. Two battery options allow you to set up your Wild for how you like to ride. Choose the 600Wh battery for the lightest Wild possible or if you regularly enjoy full day rides then choose the 750Wh battery. Simply add the 250Wh Range Extender for those occasional extra-long rides.

BUILD OPTIONS | Ready for Action
Wild is one of the lightest truly full-power e-bikes but we have not compromised anything to reach that weight. That means Fox Factory shocks and Fox 38 forks. It also means Maxxis double-down rear tyres and EXO+ front tyres, with options to choose DH casing via Orbea’s MyO configurator. There are two OQUO wheel options. The MC32-LTD carbon wheel gives the lightest ride for smoother riders. Or the new MC32-Team wheel uses an updated rim, designed to stand up to DH World Cup runs and suitable for the most aggressive riders.

THE WILD FAMILY GROWS | Wild ST

Not everybody needs a bike which is as aggressive and capable as Wild, and Orbea
acknowledges that with the new Wild ST. Wild ST shares many of Wild’s award-winning
features, in a more trail-orientated package. That means the same award winning frame
design, the same new Bosch Perf CX motor and the same choice of 600Wh or 750Wh
batteries. The differences are:
➔ Wild ST is only available in Orbea’s High Polish Aluminium. This is an advanced alloy
frame, with polished welds which makes it very hard to tell that it is not made from
carbon. This isn’t just aesthetically pleasing though, it also removes stress points and
gives a stronger, more reliable frame.
➔ 150mm of travel front and rear.
➔ Trail-focussed geometry. The less aggressive geometry makes WILD ST easier to
ride for less experienced, or less aggressive, riders.
➔ 29” wheels only, to maximize stability and grip.
Customize your new WILD
One feature that makes Orbea stand out from other brands is their personalisation program that lets you customise your bike before delivery.
And the new Wild is no exception. Orbea have continued to raise the bar. As well as the
usual upgrades, ergonomic components and new colours and finishes, they also offer the
opportunity to customise the wheels made by OQUO.
The new Wild is available in 6 models, 4 in Carbon and 2 in High Polish Alloy. The Wild ST is available in 2 models, both in High Polish Alloy.
The new Wild comes in 3 new colors as well as the full choice of MyO colors on carbon
models.
