2020 Transition Patrol Alloy Complete Bike GX TR Grey

Season:2020

Brand:Transition

Code:YRGRTYRG.XG.YLA.TAP.02.BC

The Patrol Alloy GX is the workhorse in our lineup focusing on performance and maximum durability

We tailored the build to give the rider the best possible brakes and suspension for the money in a value oriented package. Fox suspension heads up the build with the Factory DHX2 2-position rear shock that gives you four way adjustment and an on the fly lockout lever. Up front the Fox Float 36 Performance fork offers top of the line suspension feel with an easy to setup sweep lever for compression adjustment. Braking is handled by our favorite four piston skid triggers the SRAM Code RSC with reach and contact adjust along with 200mm front and 180mm rear rotors. The drivetrain is a complete GX Eagle setup with a massive 10-50 tooth gear range and durable alloy crankset. Top of the line Maxxis Minion 3C tires are mounted to Stan's Flow S1 wheelset, the benchmark for strength and value in the same package. The dropper post is the durable Bike Yoke Revive seatpost with a user friendly reset feature which ensures your bike can stay out of the shop and out on the trail instead. We are now including tubeless valves and 6ozs of Stan's Sealant for easy tubeless setup from the start.

Available colours: Coral Blue, TR Grey

SBG - Speed Balanced Geometry

SBG ensures the bike maintains low speed agility, front wheel traction, and proper rider weight balance while actually increasing confidence in steep terrain and at high speeds. With SBG, a slacker head tube angle is combined with a all new reduced offset fork standard, preventing the front wheel from being too far in front of the rider. This improves front to rear weight distribution on the bike, which is often out of balance on long and slack bikes. One of SBG's greatest benefits is that it creates a confident steering feel that adapts to wheel speed. More stability when going fast, more agility on technical slow speed maneuvering as well as improved traction, control and confidence for any skill level of rider.

GiddyUp 2.0HH Suspension

Take our successful GiddyUp suspension system, add one part increased pedaling efficiency, two parts wider sag range, and three parts increased small bump sensitivity, and you get GiddyUp 2.0HH. Incredible pedaling performance balanced with a superb neutral, comfortable and fun feel that we're known for.

We specifically tuned the suspension with a moderate amount of chain growth which is highest at the sag point and decreasing deeper into the travel. Because of this finely tuned wheel path, there is a notable increase in traction when climbing, without the rider noticing the chain growth fighting the suspension movement.

GiddyUp 2.0HH is extremely easy to setup and it provides excellent support throughout the entire stroke of the shock so you can use all your travel without worrying about bottom out. Designed to be active while climbing, rear shock climbing platforms are not necessary. The suspension remains free to smooth out the trail, improve traction and control without sacrificing efficiency. With GiddyUp 2.0HH you can focus on the trail, no remotes, levers or knobs. Just grab your bike and GiddyUp.

Sizing Information

Transition Trail bike sizing

Approx rider height range:

5'2"-5'6" Small

5'6"-5'10" Medium

5'10"-6'2" Large

6'2"-6'6" Extra Large

Some sizing notes from Transition:

The days of 120mm stems and 680mm handlebars with bar ends are nearly gone and we feel that an approach to sizing born in that era should go away as well. With progressive trail design and all of the recent changes in bike technology, selecting your frame size is not as cut and dry as it once was. With the huge variety of trail styles, riding styles and bike setup preferences, we would urge you to look beyond your height and inseam to find the right bike size. We want you to have as much fun as possible riding your bike. And in the end we want you to remember, there is no right or wrong size for you (within reason of course).

Take a look at the style of trails you will be riding, and how you would approach them... are they fast and open or tight and technical? Steep or mellow? Do you like to catch air or keep the wheels on the ground? Do you pick the gnarly straight line, or move your bike around on the trail? Did you grow up racing BMX bikes, start off with mountain biking, or get into it from road biking? Want your bike to feel super stable or super agile? All of these factors come into play, and each one is just as important as the others. For example, you can choose to ride a size Large frame and use a 35mm stem and achieve a nearly identical reach as a Medium size frame with a 60mm stem. Each setup can be as capable as the other, while offering a very different feeling ride. Even beyond stem length, depending on how you have answered those questions, you might want to go up or down in size to get the right fit and feel for you and your trails.

In order to reflect those choices, we have updated our sizing chart with a lot more overlap across the size range. We have tried to illustrate the bike sizes we felt would apply to each rider size; but be sure to look at the geometry and make sure the size you are choosing makes sense for your preferences. Everyone is different, plain and simple. The lines have become blurred and there is no strict rule of thumb anymore. When choosing your perfect size, ask yourself these questions, call or email us if you need a second opinion and most importantly... make sure you pick the setup that you feel will be the most fun!
