The Scout has the character of a slopestyle bike blended with the comfort to pedal big mileage in any terrain. Taking mid travel to all new places, the Scout is equally at home slashing turns deep on backcountry trails or cranking out laps on the local trails. The playful nature of the Scout begs the rider to play around with new lines on the trail. The long front center and 67 degree head angle keep you comfortable and safe; while the short 425mm chainstay and super low bottom bracket let you get wild.

"This bike is a blast to ride, combining the attributes of a much longer travel all-mountain machine with the spry manners of a light trail bike. The overall sense of stability is aided by the commendable stiffness of the frame between the wheels, and the Giddy Up link rear suspension is highly capable across a broad range, inviting the inevitable "feels like it has more travel than it really does" cli-che. It is remarkably composed in wheel-eating terrain and would make a great go-to bike for backcountry rides in big mountains made entirely of head-sized rocks. The Scout, regardless of the landscape it is thrown into, is confidence inspiring and telepathi-cally easy to ride."- Mike Ferrentino, Bike Magazine

"The concept of a shorter travel bike with long, low and slack geometry still raise questions, especially from riders who haven't experienced how much fun a bike like this is capable of delivering. There are bikes with more travel that weigh a similar amount, so given the choice, why would anyone want less travel? What it comes down to is how the bike feels on the trail - the Scout possess a mix of playfulness and brawn that's often lacking in longer travel bikes. This isn't a spineless noodle of a trail bike designed for puttering around on flow trails, it's a hot rod meant for going foot out, flat out whenever possible. But that doesn't mean it takes a breakfast of Pixy Stix and Red Bull to take advantage of the Scout's capabilities - even a less aggressive rider will be able to appreciate the ease at which the bike can cruise through technical terrain. Pumping through rollers, manualing out of corners, bunny-hopping over everything and anything that gets in the way - the Scout is one of those bikes that turns mountains into playgrounds, making the riding experience that much better." - Mike Kazimer, Pinkbike.com

"The naturally playful feel of the Scout becomes apparent within seconds of rolling into the first piece of singletrack. It's easy to throw the Transition about, skipping between obstacles or launching entire sections with confidence - it really does feel like a much lighter bike."- MBUK Magazine

Sizing Information

Transition Trail bike sizing

Approx rider height range:

5'2"-5'6" Small

5'6"-5'10" Medium

5'10"-6'2" Large

6'2"-6'6" Extra Large

Some sizing notes from Transition:

The days of 120mm stems and 680mm handlebars with bar ends are nearly gone and we feel that an approach to sizing born in that era should go away as well. With progressive trail design and all of the recent changes in bike technology, selecting your frame size is not as cut and dry as it once was. With the huge variety of trail styles, riding styles and bike setup preferences, we would urge you to look beyond your height and inseam to find the right bike size. We want you to have as much fun as possible riding your bike. And in the end we want you to remember, there is no right or wrong size for you (within reason of course).

Take a look at the style of trails you will be riding, and how you would approach them... are they fast and open or tight and technical? Steep or mellow? Do you like to catch air or keep the wheels on the ground? Do you pick the gnarly straight line, or move your bike around on the trail? Did you grow up racing BMX bikes, start off with mountain biking, or get into it from road biking? Want your bike to feel super stable or super agile? All of these factors come into play, and each one is just as important as the others. For example, you can choose to ride a size Large frame and use a 35mm stem and achieve a nearly identical reach as a Medium size frame with a 60mm stem. Each setup can be as capable as the other, while offering a very different feeling ride. Even beyond stem length, depending on how you have answered those questions, you might want to go up or down in size to get the right fit and feel for you and your trails.

In order to reflect those choices, we have updated our sizing chart with a lot more overlap across the size range. We have tried to illustrate the bike sizes we felt would apply to each rider size; but be sure to look at the geometry and make sure the size you are choosing makes sense for your preferences. Everyone is different, plain and simple. The lines have become blurred and there is no strict rule of thumb anymore. When choosing your perfect size, ask yourself these questions, call or email us if you need a second opinion and most importantly... make sure you pick the setup that you feel will be the most fun!
